Golden Image Nvme

Hello all,

i have tried to switch from "LSI Logic SAS" to "Nvme" in order to improve performance.

Our Environment is running on a VSAN allflash cluster, 6 Dell Hosts, Windows 10 1809.

Unfortunately, as soon as our instant clones are deployed input lags start to occure. Waiting times for Application start are much higher than before. Golden Image Perfomance is really good and no issues so far, though.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Mat

Re: SSL error Horizon client

The reason why I am asking is to understand where between your Horizon Client and the VDI the SSL handshake happen?

Could be the VDI (direct connection), the Connection Server (acting as Gateway) or a UAG (again Gateway).

Can anybody else access exact the same VDI? Is the certificate trusted by the device where you launch Horizon Client?

I don't know if it is direct connection, connection server or a UAG, I could maybe ask the team in charge if really needed, I just know we access to the VDI via a link and we connect to a desktop pool

Yes many people can access the same VDI, me included, how could I check if the certificate is trusted? In the MMC console?

I understand that you can logon to Horizon but the connection to the VDI is failing - correct?

Well I can launch the application, the user is then requested for a link (https...) then we click connect and we immediately have the SSL error, so I can't really logon to horizon, just launch it, and I'll say this happen before the real connection to the VDI

We don't access to the pool of desktop where we can choose the VDI to connect to, it fails during the conenction just before that

Hope that's clear enough

Help - Create Multiple AD Users

Hi dear specialists,

in the near future I will have to create new groups of users in our AD on a regular basis.

For creating individual users, vRO already has the template "create a user in an organizational unit".

My thought was first, i could create a bulk of users when i change the type of "accountName" from string to array/string, which seems to work so far, but i did not think of the "displayName"...

I just have no idea how I can get him to use the array of "accountName" for the "displayName"...

Do you have any idea?

Is my thought process completely wrong with the solution approach?

Thanks a lot in advance

NSX Can't communicate with vCenter directly connected vCenter

Hello Team

I am building my new test Lab to learn NSX again!

While doing this I have 2 NIC for VCSA 1st one is the Mgmt and 2nd NIC just added and trying to connect vCenter via it

From NSX Mgmt trying to point to VCSA 2nd IP for the Lookup Service URL value and it's not reachable

My question is it a madatory for NSX mgr and vCenter  to be connected via Standard Switches ?

For vCenter to make 2 NICs as Mgmt is there's any additional configs I should do for the vCenter to consider 2nd NIC as Mgmt ?

below is the NIC from VAMI I am asking for, can I make NIC1 also Mgmt?

Are you running any scripts against vSAN APIs? I have seen issues before where people were running scripts against our APIs and would populate fields which did not need to be populated. Other than that, this doesn't ring a bell unfortunately.

Did you file an SR?

Re: NSX home Lab internal logical switch vm not able to ping google.

Hi,

- Can you ping google from the edge gateway ?

- Where do you normaly do natting ? on the isp router ? When this is a home lab, i assume you have a dsl/cable provider being the 'isp-router'

Assuming isp being cable/dls

- you need to add 10.1.x.x to the natting on the isp router.

- you need to add a route on the isp router for 10.1.x.x with the next hop being the edge

OR

- you need to add 10.1.x.x to the edge with natting.

- then you do not need aditional routing.

VMRC/Webconsole one particular user not able to connect to any VM on exactly one ESXi host

Hello,

this is my first post here in forum.

I open it because all other VMRC posts did not help on this issue.

Description of the problem:

We have one particular user on a location that is not able to connect to any VM on exactly one ESXi host.

On all other hosts it works just fine.

Symptoms:

- User can not use remote console/webconsole on any VM on 1 of 3 ESXi hosts

- VMRC just replies with "Connection error"

- On the other 2 ESXi hosts it works

- other users can open remote console/webconsole

Environment:

- vSphere 6.7.0.43000

- 3 ESXi host 6.7 U3 16075168

- User priviliges granted in vSphere on Location folder level and checked that all objects below inherit the priviliges

What I did so far:

- checked firewall    -> nothing changed there. Other user from same subnet can connect

- removed all priviliges for the user and added them again  -> did not help

- reinstalled browser (chrome)                                             -> did not help

- reinstalled remote console (11.1.0 build-15913118)          -> did not help

- rebooted the complete host                                               -> did not help

- user tried to use another pc to connect (1 pc, 1 laptop, 1 terminal server) -> did not help

I attached a screenshot of the error and two remote console logs

-> vmware-vmrc-11556.log is from the host where it does not work

-> vmware-vmrc-12880.log is from the host where it works

I think it´s somehow related to the user not the host, but I have no idea what it could be.

If anyone could help on this that would be great.

Regards

Bjoern

Application blocking all files except some files (including DFS)

Hi,

We are going to implement Dynamic Environment Manager.

What we want is the following:

- Block all applications and exe files (also program files and windows)

- Only allow specific files, we choose.

How can we implement our policy?

We also use DFS and map the Homefolder on the DFS to H-drive and all .exe files can be started from the H-drive. How can I block the H-drive? I tried to block \\domain\dfs and H:\ but that didn't work.

Two other questions:

- does it slow down my environment if I have 400 block rules?

- Is there a log file where I can see which blocks did happen? So I can anlyse if there are attacks / if people try to start applications?

Greetings,

Pieter

I'll repeat my previous question - what happens if you try and connect to the SAME ADMIN$ share on the SAME remote system as the SAME user from the Start menu?

If that doesn't work, Converter won't work.

Unless you've misconfigured your VM networking this is an OS issue and nothing to do with VMware products - it should work the same as if the VM OS was running directly on laptop A.

Can you already ping the VM OS from laptop B? If so, puTTY on your Windows system should be able to connect to your VM OS.

Im a bit confused, from running instance there is nothing like:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\XP-Install\Select    path should be different.

Otherwise i made some progress with machine in overall.

1) i now have working network and USB mouse

2) I made USB3 mouse working, interesting is that USB mouse does not freeze with other input options, but its on other non Intel controller (VIA USB3).. USB / PS/2 controller which is on Intel (on board) is freezing.

He logons on local as administrator and then use the UNC path which is successful. The server is using the Window 2K3 SP2 . admin$.PNG

Hi,

to test I use swagger to list all workflows:

https://orchestrator-test.testdom:8281/vco/api/docs/index.html#!/workflow-controller/getAllWorkflowsUsingGET_1

Request URL

https://orchestrator-test.testdom:8281/vco/api/workflows?maxResult=2&startIndex=0&queryCount=false

To run the Workflow from the external system the request looks as follows:

set HttpReq = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.6.0")
HttpReq.open "POST",”https://orchestrator-test.testdom:8281/vco/api/workflows/4b1219e8-d467-42da-a8ca-ec7a63cd798d/executions",false,userid,password
httpreq.setRequestHeader "Content-type","application/xml;charset=UTF-8"
httpreq.setRequestHeader "Accept","application/json"
strsend="<execution-context xmlns=""http://www.vmware.com/vco""><parameters>"
strsend=strsend&"<parameter type=""string"" name=""toAddress"" scope=""local""><string>somebody@domain.com</string></parameter>"
strsend=strsend&"<parameter type=""string"" name=""ccAddress"" scope=""local""><string>someware@domain.com</string></parameter>"
strsend=strsend&"<parameter type=""string"" name=""topic"" scope=""local""><string>Mailtopic</string></parameter>"
strsend=strsend&"<parameter type=""string"" name=""contentBody"" scope=""local""><string>Hello World</string></parameter> </parameters> </execution-context>"
HttpReq.Send strsend

many thanks!

Re: DEM taking 20 minute to log off

Hi AdiNugraha,

For this particular delay, you might want to look into excluding FlexService.exe and/or the configured profile archive path.

Given that this is on RDSH, it would be relatively straightforward to see what's going on using Microsoft Process Monitor. Start two sessions on the same host, one as a test user and one as admin. In the admin session, launch ProcMon, and then log off your test user. The ProcMon trace will hopefully provide some insight into what's taking so long during logoff.

Thanks Jaylaxmifor the procedure

Vmware does not advise adding 2 nics to vcsa 6.5. But if you configure the 2 nic with their ip's without gw could the network work?.

We are looking at the backup if I install vcsa 6.5u2 install vddk 6.0.2 ?. Where can I see the VDDK version in vmware?

How many nodes/servers required to install Tanzu?

Yes, LucD. It works for me as well, but it takes time and it doesn't come  in mail box. I'm able to receive for DRS,VMotion and host maintenance mode report without any issue.

"run forever"? No. Are you sure, the Get-VIEvent might run a rather long time. - yes. Ideally the below output should not onscreen instead of sending over mail.

Thanks
