uploading via sftp and via Wifi is the most stupid idea I have ever heard. Wifi might interrupt infrequently, SFTP is non resumable format.

 

I have uploaded thousands of ISO files only using the datastore browser, and never had any problems... except in ESX 5.1 CU2 with a slow encryption... and aaaaaaaaalways via LAN.

 

And there is another particularity with Windows 10 / 2016, the ISO boot will look for a bootable operating system and will boot this, even if DVD drive is the first boot option.

So it is not possible to boot with default boot settings of the VM's bios, you must first edit the delay for bios to 2 seconds and then hit the F12 key for getting the Bios boot manager, then and only then Windows 10 / server 2016 will boot from ISO, e.g. overwriting the exisitng installation or upgrade it.

Would you be so kind to collect a Fusion Support Bundle which demonstrates the issue.

1) Enable USB Verbose logging from "Virtual Machine > Settings > Advanced > Enabled Verbose USB Debugging"

2) Reproduce the issue one more time

2) Generate a Support Bundle from "Help > Collect Support Information".

3) Upload the Support Bundle from VMware's FTP portal using  (see VMware Knowledge Base ). You can name the directory in FTP community634843-2.

UPDATE: scott28tt

 

I just would like to understand why this is happening. If I use my Ethernet connection, devices other than my host will learn the virtual MAC addresses. However, if I use my WiFi card, the devices will learn my host MAC address. As if, Ethernet is really bridging the traffic, and WiFi the PC has like proxy ARP enabled on it. However, I am not able to confirm this with any of Microsoft's PS commands.

 

Please note I installed VMware Workstation Player like a year ago, and the WiFi card I installed it few months back.

 

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

In that case, I think you will need to use one custom baseline for each vendor ESXi. The non-critical patches download the default patches from the same webpage.

You can set up Update Manager to download patches from different sources (Configuring the Update Manager Download Sources) but I don't think that it will solve the issue you have.

 

Your UCS and HPE servers use the same qlogic adapters? If not, I think it will be ok to stage the patches. I would like to have more information about this scenario

I downgraded by simply downloading "VMware-Fusion-11.5.3-15870345.dmg" and running the installer.

 

PS - Before downgrading, please upload your support bundle as requested so they can fix this issue.  The instructions are here:

Tentatively, yes, although I didn’t use it Wednesday, and I was doing different stuff with it today (less typing).
It certainly seemed better, but I’d need a little longer with it to be sure / happy / conclusive.
I’ll post a more detailed update tomorrow; hope that’s ok.

So basically you want to list all the configured settings in a HostProfile?

The ones you see selected when you select Edit HostProfile.

vRA Tenant Administrator Lease Override Option

We have a recurring scenario in our development cycle that involves deployments from a short-term blueprint (60-days Max) needing a change to a long term lease deployment(365 days) with manager approval.  (And no one knows if the lease will need a long-term revision.)  Renewing the lease every two months is not a viable option for us, since it's essentially an infinite lease if we give the power to the users to do so.  And having all leases be a max value of 365 days has caused users to be wasteful.  This update also needs to be done without downtime.

Do Tenant Administrators or a Business Group Managers not have the rights to set the lease to whatever they choose for a specific deployment?

I've already seen unsupported solutions to modify the Postgres Database "at your own risk," or doing some sort of deployment shutdown, export, then import, so I'm not really interested in those janky workarounds.

It's very possible I could be missing something in the permissions or GUI options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

VMWare Worstation Pro 15.5.5 installation fails on Debian stable

Hi All,

 

I successfully ran Workstation Pro from release 11 to recent 15.5.2 without major problems. Trying to run the upgrade to 15.5.5 today, I failed with...

Can you please remove "featMask.vm.cpuid.stibp = "Max:0" completely? You have to start the VM from commandline rather than from the GUI otherwise unregister and register it again.
